Charlottesville draws both U.S. and international visitors intiqued by how the area helped shape and was shaped by the politics and personalities of the country's founding fathers.  

 

Monticello - The home of Thomas Jefferson,

our third president of the United States and author of the Declaration of Independance is visited by thousands each year. Stop in for a bite at historical Michie Tavern.

 

University of Virginia and the Rotunda  - Thomas Jefferson founded UVA in 1819 His desire was to have a publicly supported school for higher learning to have to have national character and structure.  The "grounds" of UVA campus have been home to many famous individuals.  Edgar Allan Poe was a student!

 

Ashlawn Highland - The home of James Monroe, our fifth president of the United States and close friend to Thomas Jefferson also resided in Charlottesville.

 

Montpelier - Dive into the history of American democracy at the home of James and Dolley Madison.  Mr. Madison was Father of the Constitution, Architect of the Bill of Rights and Dolley was America's 1st First Lady!  Visit their home still being restored and step back in history.

 

To experience both historical and entertainment, visit Historic Downtown Mall in Charlottesville!  Our dining, entertaiment and shopping district.  One of the most beautiful and successful pedestrian malls in the nation!

 

Charlottesville has an arts and culture scene that amazingly rivals that of metopolis in the country!  Performers who have visited our area include: Cherly Crow, Lady Gaga, U2, Kenny Chesney, Elton John, Jimmy Buffett, Taylor Swift and Bruce Springsteen.  

 

John Paul Jones Area on UVA campus seats 15,000 and when the Cavaliers are not shooting hoops, it is an entertainment venue for concerts and shows.  

 

The downtown Pavillion located on the east end of the historic downtown mall is the city's premier outdoor venue for live performances.  Also located downtown is the Jefferson Theater established in 1912 has been restored and welcomes live musical performances 

 

The historic Paramount Theater is an intimate, one-fo-a-kind theater providing a range of venues that attract both the world's biggest performers and small emerging artists. 

 

Virginia is the birthplace of American Wine!  The wineries on the Monticello Wine Trail have been  inspired by Thomas Jefferson's vision of wine making!  With over 30 to choose from, all tastes are fulfilled!   

 

Award winning brewries now adorn the frame of the Blue Ridge Mountains!  The Brew Rige Trail current is home to 6 local breweries.  Don't forget about the multiple local Cider mills!
